Photo Challenge
Look, I’m not much of photographer.
Truth be told, I let my cameras do all the heavy lifting. It’s not I shoot in Program Mode, but I do keep my camera in specific settings and can frame a shot here and there. Due to burst shooting modes available I usually find a shot that looks good.
You can find a lot of my recent work on S@HDM Instagram and Facebook pages.
I’m more miss than hit when it comes to my photography.
So, I’m no where near the photographer I’d like to be. And truth be told, I don’t even know what kind of photographer I’d like to be.
In recent days, I’ve been watching a lot of YouTube videos on photography. And I watched the one video of this one guy from Iceland that decided to shoot and post a video every day for three hundred and sixty-five days. And, according to him, he knew nothing about photography.
Now, he showed one of his early photos during this challenge and well, it looked like one of the photos I would usually take.
The thing is, somewhere in there, he took a photo that he really liked - I like the term Banger. And yeah, it wasn’t bad.
And before his challenge ended, his photos got noticed, and he actually got a job off it. I don’t know if that’s my goal, but it sure would be nice.
I think my goal is I just don’t want to suck and I want to create better photos than the standard fare and I want to master the equipment that I take photos with.
I have other nebulous creative goals that I can’t quite articulate yet, but I know they’re there.
Which brings me to starting my own photography challenge.
Everyday for a year, I’m going to post a photo on my website.
Now, I’m not going to post ‘em on Instagram or Facebook, because, well, I know that if I do that, then I’m going to be chasing likes and clicks.
So what are my rules:
1. The photo either needs to be taken on my M7 or my A7 IV.
2. The photo needs to be uploaded before I go to sleep that day.
3. I’m going to be using iPhoto to edit my photos.
So that’s the challenge.
