Coffee Woes
...well, this morning was way better than yesterday’s morning that’s for sure. There was only one problem: we were out of coffee.
Damn.
So early this morning, I was at HEB buying coffee. Now, if you’re not from Central, Texas, you may not be familiar with the magic of HEB, the greatest grocery store this side of Jerusalem.
A fun fact about HEB or so I’ve heard is that each HEB is specially designed by the area that it services. So unlike other grocery stores that are cookie cutter, one size fits all, HEB knows what the area likes. It’s genius in that, generally you pick the area in which to live, so it makes sense to have a grocery store that caters to your like.
Well, this is great, unless in the area that you like people only like a specific set of coffee, so HEB only sells for that area.
And even then, looking over the anemic selection of coffee, I couldn’t help, but get confused by which coffee I should get for the house. I must’ve of stood there for ten minutes looking at the limited selection of coffee and weighed the medium roasts coffee by their packaging.
Again, I forget which I chose, but the funny thing is, I took so long picking a coffee, that I didn’t get a chance to brew me some before going to work.
Sigh.
We didn’t have a move scheduled today, but Jacob and I have a meeting with a community we don’t often work at.
The sales person there took us on a tour while we pitched our service. We both seemed pleased with the meeting.
Our only hang up is that this place - and it’s a really nice place - only had one move in last month. So there’s the possibility that they won’t be sending us a lot of jobs.
Jake and I did visit a few more places, before Jake had to take a call. My original plan was to come home, follow up on some emails I’d sent, and doing a little more social media for S@HDM.
But Jake called me up and said, he’d taken a job from someone to clean out their storage unit in central Austin. They had told him their storage facility was closing shop and needed everyone out in like thirty days or something.
“We need to get some broachers out there,” he said.
I was like you’re right, I’m on my way now.
“Oh,” was all he said.
So I hopped in my car and raced down there. When I got there, there was already a moving company moving someone out. I walked in and tried to hand ‘em brothers, but they counter guy told me, they couldn’t recommend anybody. And he gave me an email to send our information to and they could recommend moving companies.
Well, since I was driving I sent the info to Jake and he called. And he was told, “no, we can’t recommend anybody, but you can take some of your brochures down there.”
Our solution was to make some really quick signs and try to get ‘em up near the storage facility.
I raced to FedEx, but they said it all had to be done on line. I told Jacob, he designed a a sign, and ordered a couple.
We’ll see what comes of it.
I stopped at HEB, again, and got some stuff for dinner and came home and cooked up some steak bowls and well, I’m stuff now.
