I biffed it today.
Jake and I were walking up to a customer’s house and the walkway was covered in ice. The house was sunk down from the street. I want to say that it backed up to a ravine of some kind.
Jake hates the ice and didn’t want to the job. Thing is, this was an important job. Even before we got out of the truck I was telling ‘em, we’d have to suck it up and do the job.
Our customer had seen us drive up and was tenderly climbing up his walkway to meet us, when I took a step and my back foot slipped out from under me. Wham-o! I was seeing leafless trees.
*Damn it.*
I felt like such an idiot. The customer was right in front of us. Leave to me to biff it. Needless to say, we weren’t going to be able to do their move today.
We still did a move. A former customer. I stayed in the truck, working, while trying to figure out what my body was going to do with the fall. I felt a sharp pain here in there, a dull throbbing pain, here and there. Nothing serious, but trouble some.
As much as I enjoy working in the truck, I need to get out more and do more social media.
When we got back to Jake’s house, his neighbor that spoke Spanish caught me. She needs a job done, but can’t communicate with Jake. I got the gist of what she needed, told Jake, and was able to tell her our pricing. She’s got Lucy’s number if she needs our services.
By the time I got home, I was in a mood, not a bad mood, but a mood. Imelda, my mother in law, had cooked up some Chicken Soup and that made me feel a little bit better.
Then, Lucy and I watched, *Triple Frontier*, a movie I never heard of or seen. It wasn’t too bad. Lucy was ambivalent about the ending, but I kinda of liked it.
During the movie Jake did call to tell me about a hard time he had with a customer. The other team did a job today and it sounded like the guy was trying to rook us, but Jake stood his ground.
Now, it’s very rare, Jake gets angry with a customer. Well, today, was one of those very rare occasions. Truth be told, from the sounds of it, this isn’t a customer we want to work for again. So I put him on the list. A short list, but it does exist.
