CEO and Everything Else

Big day yesterday. Well, big for me these days.

First, I rocked an interview. At least, I felt like I rocked it. Of course, you can only say you've rocked an interview if and when they call me back.

Still, the interview felt better than some more recent ones. Plus, the software I'd sling looks pretty helpful to its base. The industry isn't in my usual wheelhouse, but I'm up for learning a new industry. It's still SAAS sales.

The other thing I did was make business cards for Medina Images.

The cards didn't turn out too bad.

The thing is, I designed the logo. It's not a barn burner, and it's not like you'll see it on a Nascar anytime soon. Still, I think it works for what I'm trying to convey.

I did see another opening for a company I'd like to work for, so after writing this entry, I'm going to get cracking on that (fingers crossed).

I also caught a video that alleviated some of the concerns I've had of late.

Maybe it's just me, but I've had this uneasy tension about pursuing a photography business while looking for another full-time job.

The fear in my head is that, by some miracle, my future employers will find this obscure blog and my side hustle and question my lack of commitment to their company.

But this video put my side hustle in a different light—an angle I hadn't seen before.

Technically, I'm the founding member and CEO of Medina Images. But I'm everything else, from accountanting to digital marketing to sales.

The skills I'm picking up in running my own business can easily translate to any job I'm working.

Plus, I'm providing the product and delivering that product. Oh, and I'm providing customer service as well.

Again, these skills can be transferable to any job.

For right now, Medina Images is a one-person band. I'm doing all the work. If it fails, that's on me. If it succeeds, that's on me too.

But I'm sure going to learn things along the way.

As I said, the skills I learned are transferable.

One skill I'd like to master is Copy Writing.

I will say, I think my writing has improved since I started writing every day.

I can sense it.

Part of me thinks I should've done this sooner, but I didn't.

Anyways, I'm glad I saw that video because it did elevate this dread I've been having about this side hustle.

I tried to tweak my logo yesterday but realized I was fussy about it. Then I realized, hell, if I need to, I could go through a rebranding if need be.

So I'm going with what I got for now. If it doesn't work, I can do something different.

Want to know why?

Because I'm the CEO of this bad boy.

So here to hoping that one job calls back. (I've got a cup of coffee in my hand).

And here's to hoping Medina Images is a success.
