Like I Was Saying…I was heading to bed, having shut down the house.
It’s October so I need to turn off the outside lights (yes, we now hang Halloween lights), the porch lights, the ceramic pumpkins, the lamps, the TV. Are the doors locked? Did you lock the door? Let me check.
I’m tired, but not tired. But I need to sleep. Or at least try to sleep.
The house is dark. Ava and Sophie clacking behind me. They’re ready to nestle under the bed. Especially Ava. She loves being underthings. It’s her thing.
As I walk into the room I see Luna there, but I see this shaft of light behind her. Well, that looks a little cool.
And I know this: there’s no way in hell my Sony is going grab this shot. It’s a great little camera, but low light is one of its Achilles ’ heel. I know my iPhone is going to pick up. It won’t be great and it’ll be grainy as all get out, but it’ll get the light.
So I snapped the photo. Part of me is kicking my ass for not moving the basket or putting away my clothes when I had time. I could go try to move it, but then maybe Luna will kick up and move. She does that. So fine the basket stays in the picture.
And here’s the other thing, a few months ago, Lucy decided to put these outlets will lights strategically around the house, so people can watch where they’re stepping. Well, she put one in our bedroom and that’s what lit Luna’s face.
I’m not saying this photo works. It doesn’t. It’s awful. Grainy. Pixelated. Blotchy.
I know I’m not printing it. It’s not going anywhere, but here on this blog post.
It’s part of my commitment to make at least one photo a day and post it.
If I’m going to this, I need to take more photos during the day. I need to practice if I’m going to get good.
So yeah, Luna at night.
