Thank You
…During a move or Senior Transition as we call them, I met two vets — well, one, I’d met before — but I didn’t know too much about his service.
During our unload we’d blocked some cars in and while working in the truck, heard some talking behind me.
There was a lady on the balcony taking to two guys, when the lady pointed at me. Don’t know why, but I asked, “you need me to move.”
One of the gentlemen, said “yeah.”
So I sprang from the truck and closed up the trailer. When I pulled forward I heard a large crash in the trailer and my heart sank: what fell?
I ran back to check and luckily I’d pulled up just enough for the guy to back out his car. It was close, but he got out.
I saw on his hat he’d served in the Navy. I thanked him for his service.
“US Navy, 20 years.”
I asked what he did in the Navy.
“Submarines.”
The other guy was an MP for 20 years as well.
And that was the highlight of my day.
